Didn't get out last weekend, but made up for it a bit this one.
Saturday, Wye river rocks (past Lorne), 11am to 3pm, 8 x salmon to 55cm, and a PB landbased trevalley at 46cm.
Sunday, Punchbowl rocks (near San Remo), 7am to 8:30am, 1 salmon at 42cm, and a 78cm gummy shark (110cm tip to tip, 4kg clean).
Didn't take the gaff or net down, so I was kicking myself when I saw 1 meter of gummy in the water on old 25lb line that I didn't trust to lift out of the water. After about 20 wave surges I managed to wash him up 1/2 way, where he got jammed with his tail fin in a crevice. I dropped the rod, grabbed the 35lb leader and jiggled him out and up. A bit of luck, and patience. I was very happy as I seemed to slow the landing process down to land the fish solo, where as before I've lost a few from getting too exited and rushing things.
Didn't have to put long hours in this time, but got the goods.
Lot's of fresh fish to share around today.
Fish on,
Dave.

Grant,
I'd love to boat fish. When can you take me? :D
I can't afford the boat I want yet, and my 3.5 meter Savage's 25 Yamaha is stuffed (not good on a rough day in the bay anyway).
I do the odd charter here and there, and visit a mate once or twice a year up around Newcastle for kingies/taylor and bonito.
But yes, I'd love a boat.
Dave.

Wow, what a responce.
Yeah, I'd love to. Even have fresh salmon for bait.
I'll have to check with work at the end of the day and get back to you in the morning (I'll also check weather reports).
I'll make sure to load the fish magnets in my pockets when I come.
Cheers,
Dave.

We will keep an eye on the weather and make a call wednesday.
As I said, it wont be a big outing, just to dust the cobwebs off. Shoot over to P2 and away.

Hey, Thursday sounds good to me.
Where would you launch from?
I guess you'd want to chase the snapper. Whats a productive time to fish?
Dave.

So this is the deal.
I have to take my daughter to Creche at about 8:30 am.
and I have to start work (from home) at about 12:30-1 pm-ish.
I keep my baby dry stacked at Pier 35 in Port Melbourne. What about we aim to meet at pier 35 at say 9amish.
Do you need directions?
Its not guru tides or moon, But I think we can have a go as its a pretty low tide at midday, So we can go fish the gutter around P2 for a few hours. Its more jsut to rack some time up on the boat and wet aline.

Sounds good.
Pretty sure I can find it (main station pier?). I'll suss it out toningt and let you know if I need directions.
And what's this about wetting a line, I'm catchin' a fish. Gotta love confidence.
I'll swap mobile numbers with you via PM, just in case for Thursday.
I can already feel the bump of a snapper.
Cheers,
Dave.

Directions just in case.
Just before you go over the westgate (you are comming from east side right) take the todd road exit. Where the shell servo is.
Follow that to the round about turn right.
Straight through next round about and then follow past holden and Kraft. you will see big brown signs to Pier 35 along the way.
Turn left at the rail crossing and drive down about 200m you will see a massive shed and that is pier 35. 2nd gate and park where you can. Walk over past the land stacked boats and I will be there somewhere.
Cant wait.
Sure you dont want to come steve?

Grant I generally launch from Patto due to being close to home  and as I cannot get my boat under Mordialloc on full tide and can't get up the river on low tide.
