Karen, unfortunately I am also stuck for a while.

Working Oct 29,30
Going to Welshpool with Fangvic Nov 5,6
Fangvic Xmas BBQ Nov 27
Dec 4 would be okay being a Sunday. Saturdays are tied up with kids sport.

If the above dates are okay with others I will just catch you at the next one. Or January like like Grant has suggested.

What do say about having our first outing on November 27th { Sunday } for those who can make it for a fish, and try and make it a bigger event for January for everybody to get together for a fish and BBQ ???
From then on we could arrange regular outings and maybe even plan a weekend away here and there.
cheers

Don't do it Karren, he is a known stalker.

If he thinks there's a chance of a free feed or a chance to steal your fish he will be round like a shot.

Karen, November 27 is the day Fangvic are having their Xmas BBQ.

And......thanks Karen I did manage to get through my 'coaching certificate' although now comes the difficult bit.................passing my new-found knowledge onto the kids hahahahah.

I was very fortunate to have a very stable and loving upbringing and only hope to provide the same for my family.

Some years ago I was invloved in a program with Frankston Council where I was exposed to troubled teenagers. It was an amazing experience and one that I cherish. I have the utmost respect for anybody involved in such programs and wished I could have continued. Trouble was I couldn't leave it and go home to 'my life'. Tended to get too involved with some kids to the point it that my life/job/health suffered.

Anyway, good on you Karen and will catch up to you soon.

Thanks Des, the Fangvic date slipped my mind, I have such a full calender this time of the year.
Congrats on gaining your certificate, Im sure you will be a top coach.
Working with teens is great but your right you cant go home and forget them, Ive taken several into my home in the past but it turned out a little dangerouse in a couple of cases with Joy and the girls so I had to stop taking in "strays" .
But I love it and cant see myself doing anything else now I have my own practice, only problem is it doesnt bring in a wage.
cheers

That was the problem Karen. I was sharing a house at the time wit 2 others and was trying to start a business. Buggered up the business totally and also created dramas with the girl I was sharing with.

I look back now and realise I was a bit full on and perhaps an older head on my shoulders could have managed things a bit better.

Hind-sight is teriffic.

Des, there are a heck of a lot of programes needing volunteers to help youths maybe if you had the time you could give a hand, one that comes to mind is the honory youth probation officers , you would have to complete a course that is usually run at night but its so rewarding. if you want I can get you some details.
But even by donating a couple of bucks to places like the Salvo youth services ect is a great help.
And what you are doing with kids and sport is a great thing in itself, get them on the right track at a young age will save a heap of trouble in the long run.
Keep up the great work Des.

Karen that's what I was involved in years ago.

To be honest, with my kids and their sport I am hard pressed keeping up with everything going at the moment. I was involved in the local footy with Oz-kick (just finished) and are one of the co-ordinators with the local Milo-Cricket program (commencing this week).

The 3 kids also have swim squad once a week and 2 also play basketball once a week, all after school. All at different times due to their age groups.

Along with running a business my time is limited to say the least. It feels like a cop-out writing this, but realistically we don't get a lot of time to do things as a family as it is, and at this time of their life I believe it to be imperative to be with them as much as possible (doing anything).

Please do send me the information you suggested though, it never hurts to have a look at these things.

Des and Karren

its good to see you guys get involved in such ventures and brings you many rewards in life specially those that manage to pull themselves out of the gutter and get good jobs and find good boyfriends/girlfriends and settle down to kids of there own...

Some of these kids never ask to be put into these situations and makes me think back to when i was a child how good i really had it... aloving family who will just bend over backwards and support me wether i was wrong or right..

Karren and Des champion stuff in what you guys have done and do...

cheers

Thanks Oz and Steve.
The reason I work with troubled kids is because I was pretty much one myself, I was given the choice to go to jail or join the Army so I joined the Army and made a dam good career for myself,Due to bad health I retired after 16 years service as a Captain in the Nursing Corps and have never looked back, after I left the Army I got involved with the Army cadets and met a lot of problem teens and have been working with them ever since. :)
So Steve I think I understand where you are comming from and you should be dam proud of yourself. :D
No such thing as a bad kid, just poor choices. :!:
cheers
