when the only chance you get to take the boat out, do you worry which way the tide is going?
fishing the rising tide, fishing the dropping tide, ,,,,man just get me out there.
off to buy my first SP for a 4am fish in the morning, low tide @ 5:30

I am finding more success on the high tide run in. I get there 30 mins before low tide and fish the turn and the rise.

But If I am on the water I am happy.

I try to get a rising tide with high tide approx 9ish but like everyone else just being on the water is enough. I hate a fast running tide though :(

I dont worry about the tides I just want to be on the water fishing for whatever is around most times, but if we are fishing for a specific species we use the tidal influences.
Myself and Joy have an onsite van at Lang lang on WPB and have to rely on the tide to get out as we only get 4 hours when the water is in the rest of the time its just mud, I have made errors in timing the tide and have found myself sitting high and dry in the mud 200 metres from the shore and waiting a few hours for enough water to get me back in
Not a mistake I will make a fourth time

There's a great line there Eagle. Something to do with what mozzies are reknown for and what x's are reknown for.

Don't know you well enough to use it but. Ah well, maybe after we meet up.

To answer the tide question; yes I use the tides and generally like to fish the last 2 hours before ebb tide to allow my berley to go out and then as it turns hopefully it will bring the little darlings back to me.

Having said that; in WP I only berley the last 20-30 minutes before slack otherwise you loose it.

Tides still take second place to fishing sunset, sunrise in my book. Have enjoyed more success in those two periods than any tidal movement during the day. Tend to have more success in WP fishing the tides.

Hi Eagle -- My preference is also the bottom of the ebb into the incoming tide (on PPB)

In the surf, it is the last few hours of the rising tide.

In both instances, early morning (as a preference) or dusk is by far and away my preference, and if these coincide with a tide change and a rising barometer, so much the better.
