what do you like to use overheads or bait runners for snapper?

I like to use 1 of each, horses for courses I rekon, both have good & bad points, yet to catch a big snapper on my overhead but if I did hook one the overhead would give you better control. :)

Shoulders is right, horses for courses. I generally have both types out , as much as I love my overheads, I think that my Shimano Baitrunner has the better scream. The ABU 7000's are pure delight to cast and the Charter specials have "reel" pulling power.
But then again as a Snapper virgin I can't say which one is best.

I have only ever caught snapper on overheads so I only know the feeling using them. Will have to try with other reels e.g. Alvey/egg beaters from the rocks

Tend to only use overheads chasing snapper.

An Abu 7000 was the first overhead I purchased and loved it so much I now have 3. I also have 2 Calcutta 700B's, 1 Calcutta 400B and 2 charter specials.

Use the Charter Specials and Calcutta 700B's in WP with braid and the Abu 7000's and the 400B in PPB with mono.

Generally take a light rod to play with plastics etc when things are slow and I have a threadline on this with mono.

Have a threadline and baitrunner that I use off the beach.

depends on where and what i am fishing for, ie, bream/whiting:bait runners ( shimmano 1500 no longer made))

piers for snapper bait runners and the old GS9,

rocks: over heads, abu 7000, 9000, and the ever so relaible old 12,
and occassionaly 6000 and the 6&1/2

spinning for kings the old GS9

maybe the poll should have " various" as well
