Apparently on ACA tonight there is a feature on LBG shark fishing on a beach. It might be Stockton Beach but not sure yet. They paddle out on a surfboard to place the baits and are supposedly hooking great whites apart from other sharks. Pretty worrying stuff if you like going for a swim up that way.

They have a game chair hooked up to a 4WD as well. Wait till this hits the screen someone will have a field day with this.

There is a term that springs to mind something like !$@%WITS
Would rank right up there for sheer stupidity.Wonder how loud they yell when a Shark bites one of the surfers towing the bait.

Did anyone see these wankers :?:
Call me crazy but there is something very disturbing about sitting on a chair mounted to the bullbar of a 4WD with someone driving it up the beach to catch and land a protected species. :x
At least they tagged and released them. (the ones they showed anyway) :?

Missed the earlier show and only caught a very small snippet of it in the late news.

Not my idea of fun.

Its been proven that once you get either over an hour of fighting or over 100kg, fish rarely survive catch and release. So the tagged shark probably went to die in some cavern.

Very sad.

this kind of redneck stuff really disturbs me...as they are putting other peoples lives at danger....

The excuse that they are doing it for scientific research doesnt wash with me as there is other ways of doing this research that is not going to bring harm to other people using the surrounding water..

it doesnt have to be berly that attracts sharks in close all it has to be is bait... A shark like a white pointer or Mako has one of the biggest smell sensery organs in the world a shark can actually pick up a dead tuna smell from up to 5-10klms away possibly alot further away as well

it is just outright stupidity to fish for these creatures and once more they are protected species the great white regardless wether the intention is to release or keep..

as others have said how long will it be before one crys wolf when his mate is taken by a shark while paddling out to drop his bait

What about the dogooders

Whats the other swimmers and surfers spose to do clear the beach soon as they see one lone angler coming down and says he is fishing for great whites... it weould be a rather selfish attitude if any angler thinks that way

anyway cheers
