I have the Vic level ones, with reflective tape. this is the australian standard + the reflective tape.

I have Burke Inflatables X 2 and big yellow horrible things as the rest.

My daughter (she is 2.5) has a pfd 1, that is a harness and I have to say, much better than my blow up ones which can ride up high, whenin the water.

Has anybody ever gottoninto the water with alife jacket on to see what it is like.

I did it in the Navy and I have to say it was bloody hard to move.

Karren

Karren if you want the best you are going to have to be prepared to pay the price for a good inflateable

i would say just shop around and have a look at the hutchwilco, burkes, Stormy seas in the yoke style jacket

for top price for a yoke would be around 220 dollars roughly for the high end of the scale

Karren i think whitworths and bias boating may have cheap inflateables at 89 dollars but not sure if they meet vic state or australian standards...

but karren i think you would bge lookinbg at a starting point of 160 dollars for best inflatebles on the market...

The thing is i would be asking myself does these other brand of inflatebles have to be sent back to the manufactur for servicing and can it be done in Australia and wether it can be done in your own state as well..

Also i would be asking wither you can buy the co2 fillers for the jacket and do yourself

does the inflatable pfds need much servicing? i read that the new reg.s are international stds, will this make any differance in price?, the stormy seas stand at the fish show seem good for the winter but what is there for the warmer days?

as far as santa goes i got his resignation sent by email today(not for kids), email me if you need a laugh, emc@seaeagleweb.com.au

they should be serviced once every 1-2 years just in my opinion...

Also seaeagle Stormy seas just dont have the jackets to which you are refering to they also have the yoke style jackets which is very similar to hutchwilco

i have both styles the jacket which is good for winter but also i have the yoke in the stormy seas jacket

i do intend on purchasing another jacket and a yoke in due co****

i usually wear the jacket and my partner chez wears the yoke... in summer i just take the sleaves of the jacket it is still a bit warm but i am used to that now

mind you in South oz it is not complulsary to wear life jackets as it is in tassie and victoria

yes seaeagle you are spot on there once they have been inflated you will not be able to use the co2 cylinder again as you have used the co2 up in it..

I think it is a very good idea every 2 years to actually test your life jackets the inflateble ones to actually make sure they are in working order

i believe the co2 cylinders are not expensive to replace and are roughly around 35 dollars at whitworths...

you can send your jacket to hobart for a full factory service which includes:

inspection;
testing the inflation system;
servicing the valve and replacing 'O' rings; and
cleaning the garment

Also i believe when i was talking to the Manager director last year while i was in Tassie when purchasing mine you can have it fully serviced now on the mainland i do think i have mentioned this in this thread or another thread

This is simply what you do to deflate your stormy seas inflatebles

To Deflate:
Invert the black inflation cap and press the raised top of the cap into the oral inflation tube.
This will open the one-way valve.

later tonite i will inflate my stormy seas jackets both the yoke and also the jacket just to demonstate what these inlatebles do look like when fully inflateble

(i will not be inflating the co2 cylinder i will manually blow them up just to show you all what they look like when inflated)

With Stormy Seas also you can either get manual inflate or automatic inflate

the Automatic one will activate as soon as you hit the water without human interference

Manual one you need to pull your pocket down as to where the co2 cylnder sits by pulling the from the top of pocket down will activate your jacket

i hope this has helped out a bit as i said earlier in this post will inflate the 2 style jacket that i own so you guys and gals get to see them inflated before buying an inflateble or what they look like as inflateble jackets

Gday All here is some pics of the stormy seas that i said i will put up after being inflated...

They have only been inflated by using the mouth pice provided as i did not want to use the cylynders as i intend on using them this weekend and will not get a chance to replace them due to christmsa stuff and other commitments.... they are just to give an indication of what they look like inflated

1st pic is the Yoke from stormy seas inflated

sorry about the models that were shown but they were the only models i could find on short notice and that would do it for free

When i get back from Tassie i am hoping to do a camping trip on The Murray river in which i will be testing the life jackets out using the co2 cylinders and will take further pictures of them fully inflated and in the water so stay tuned

Gday Grant

in the initial stages of venturing to melbourne i wont be bringing the boat...

as i am going to try at least get 1 day in each time i visit as the majority of timewill be looking for a house and will be looking for work.. buthopefully it wont take long before we will entirely move and be able to partake in piscatorial fishing ventures of such... just on these other trips i will have to either rely on someone to take me in there boat or spend them landbased

but its all good

great pics Oz but Chez did not seem impressed, with a bit of luck and heaps and heaps of wild promises and a huge amount of sucking up to the Mrs I should have a boat by the time you both get to Vic and we can do a spot of fishing, if not then I will hire one as I owe you both for the help you gave us at the Tambo.

Karren

you owe us nothing...

chez and myself believe in friendship and helping one and other out in hardtimes and goodtimes

what happened at tambo karren was a group of friends that showed you and Joy what friendship was all about..not that you didnt know what that was all about in the first place

we did nothing out of the ordinary that day but simply be there for you guys

you had the biggest scare of ya life on that trip as well as joy we only tried to make it easy for you guys to get to the hospital that much quicker and not having to worry about anything else...

Karren you owe us nothing and please dont contemplate hiring a boat if you havent got one we will be just as happy to sit at the end of a pier with you and joy having a fish

but hopefully before that happens we will be in melbourne living and we can invite you on our boat

please dont take this post the wrong way you are a great person as well as Joy and you have tuaght me heaps

cheers
