Whilst at Port Albert I witnessed a new way of making berely and chum.
The guys in the next site to us had a garden mulcher and we were wondering why they had it until heaps of kids started to congregate around the machine holding buckets and bags, they handed them over to the guys with the mulcher who paid them 5 bucks each, the guys then came out with a very large esky and placed it under the mulcher schute and then turned the machine on and started loading it with the fish { undersized } :x the kids had sold them, they had fish bits shooting out everywhere and very little going into the esky, people were bringing over meats of all kinds and bread and old bait, seemed everything was getting mulched, but they did make loads of it for their shark fishing day/
funny thing was after all they had done and the stench of dead mulched fish all over the place they came back from the shark fishing trip completely fishless.
Im still wondering how they are gonna clean the mulcher.

Can you imagine the bunnings sales assistant
"and what are you mulching?"
Fisho: "Fish guts and bones"
Assistant: " oh yes you need the mako 2100...just over here..."
Page heard in back ground "Security required in garden section"

In fishing I have learnt 2 things {1} I have learnt that it takes all kinds,
{2} to improvise.
I took Joy and the girls fishing a couple of years ago and they lost every sinker I had so not wanting to cut the day short I grabbed the socket set from the car, they were a bit awkward but made great sinkers

Wouldnt it be good if Bunnings sold fishing gear :?:

Funny you should raise this topic, here are some pictures of me doing the garden mulcher thing on Saturday.

The petrol driven mulchers are easier to cleans as you can tip in a whole bucket of water whilst it is running and it cleans itself out as it coughs and splutters trying to process 10 litres of water at once.
It does however still leave a strong fishy smell in that part of the garden for a week or so, whilst this is not a big issue for a fisho, it pisses Sharon off big time each time I do it.

G'day Darren, see you've finally made it mate. How are you and Sharon and the kids settling in :?: Re the berley, I'm glad you didn't move into a unit.
Keep asking questions on ******* Darren, there's some great blokes there with a lot of knowledge that are happy to share.
If you can sneak away one weekend, drag the rig up here mate and we'll organise a few of the boys to show you the ropes. (I'll supply a bunk for ya  )
I spose 150 kilo Bullsharks are a bit big for ya freezer. :?: :?: :?:

Thanks Daryl,
Looking forward to get up that way, may be a little way off yet though.
Family has settled better than expected actually, boys are doing well in their new school with new friendships made, have had their first training sessions with their new Junior AFL footy club and they're doing OK.
Sharon is getting the house sorted, but starting to get a bit bored and missing some close friends. She is flying back to Melbourne for a fix this weekend.
Once we get over a few house improvements (pool, verandah, etc) I will get a bit more time to get out and learn about the fishing options up here. A bit different to down south, but looks like plenty on offer up here.

this is my recipee for burly,
1kg pillies, 500mils tuna oil, 1 can cat food ( seafood platter ), 1 small pkt bread crumbs,
mix all together, place in empty milk carton seel and place in freezer.
when you want to use it, place in onion/orange bag, whilst frozen,
lower in water and you will have a continuese trail. a 1ltr milk carton will last approx 6hrs, great for piers and boat
