Are any of you guys in the fish tagging programe ?
I will be getting into it before the season starts up, I feel its a small way that I can do my bit for our fish stocks.

I am not sure but I think you have to belong to a club that is affilliated with the programme, i could be wrong.

Karren

good on you for wanting to get involved in fish tagging as it is rewardable by hearing about the recapture of your fish and to where it has head to and wether it has grown since you captured it...

but however thou i have to make mention as fishing dave has mentioned you have to be involved with a club or at least affiliated with an association

I know the Australian National Sportsfishing Association (ANSA) have a tagging program happening and have so for the last 10 years.

The thing is Karren if tagging was opened to all the public it could really cuase more harm then good as you must place a tag correctly so that it doesnt harm the fish...

Karren what i am saying it doesnt mean you have to run out and join a club but you can be come an individual member of ANSA and still maybe able to become involved in a tagging Program

ANSA is not a Club but is an association

Karren please look into this alot further then you have as it really isnt just what you can give back to the sport as you also have to pay a fee to tag

1/ you need a tagging applicator or tagging gun both will cost you money

tagging applicater (manual inject) witll cost around $11 bucks

tagging gun around 50 dollars

2/ then you need to buy the tags i believe which i think is around $1.00 a tag

to join Ansa you will need to contact the state representive for ansa for joining ANSA

anyway this is just for starters Karren and in no way am i trying to put you off this idea as it is a very good thing as you will learn more about the fish you have cuaght

cheers

Hi Karren,

I will have the information for you tomorrow at the fishermans breakfast, i am NOT , a member of any club or association. The membership costs roughly $30.00 per year, and you are given 100 tags for use of the dart tag, ( the larger tags ) , if you wish to get the tag gun, that costs a bit extra, but you can pick them up somewhere else, sorry but cant remember where, but i can find out for you :D

see you tomorrow morning nice and early

Lynda

Grant,
The fishermans breakfast was fantastic, 170 something fisho,s from all walks of life and covering every method of fishing there is.
The guest speakers were, Rentlo, Matt Cinni who runs a charter boat { reel time } that Lynda and I go out with, Matt gave a talk on Gummy shark and the use of cured eel for bait.
the other speaker was Jarrod Day from Paul Worstlings Cranburne tackle shop , Jarrod spoke about whitting and the use of soft plastics and braid Vs mono..
They also had a comedian buit I cant think of his name, he is a regular on Rove, a very tall bloke , and the funniest comedian Ive ever heard.
So all in all myself and Lynda had a great time and are already planning to go next year.

Karren

Will someone please take me fishing
