Was watching the shovel clear the channel at Altona boat ramp this morning and saw a guy that was strugglin to get his boat in the water. So in good worshipper spirit I as pushed past the rude Pr*cks that were just watching.

The boat would not get off the trailer and he had also driven off the end of the ramp. So after some thought and pulling, a little old italian man said. "are you goinfg to take the straps off the back" The boat still had a trailer attached to it!

The silence was deafening! So we helped him in and he was off.

I was astounded by the people just watching.

Good on you Grant, true worshipper spirit.

Have to admit I have'nt witnessed a geat deal of ramp rage in my time. The ocassional lack of patience but nothing major. Most of the time the assistance given by fisho's waiting to launch or retrieve has been great.

As I genrally launch/retrieve on my own I have respectfully refused numerous offers of assistance as I am now comfortable/capable with my routine and manage very well.

Nothing worse than having an audience when things aren't quite going to plan.

Good on ya Grant, we need to be more patient and helpfull at the ramps,
One of the nastiest things Ive seen at a ramp early last year was a not so young bloke having problems launching a 12 foot tinny , he was having problems undoing the knots because of a medical condition which had caused him some weakness and uncontrollable shaking, { ??? Parkinsons } there were 2 younger guys throwing verbal abuse at him , one of the blokes approached him and kept up his crap whilst the other bloke walked around to the back of his little boat, at the time no one knew he had taken the bung out of the boat until the boat was finally in the water and he went off to park his car, the boat very quickly filled with water as everthing not tied down began to float away, several of us { all strangers } helped to gather up his gear and finally we were able to get the boat back on the trailer which was not an easy task but whilst we were doing that the mongrels had launched thier boat and happily motored off running over some of the gear that had floated too deep to get to.

In all the years Ive studied Psychology, human nature and behaviour I still cannot come up with a clear explanation on what these people get out of treating others the way they do.

Karren

Here fishy fishy fishy

once bitten twice shy, im sorry to say but unless the guys in real trouble ill mind my own buss.
awhile back i was very help full, untill two things happend.: got abused for being a know it all( while this bloke was up to his chest in water) i offerd to help out. clearly he was fine(not), he was to proud for a young blokes help. when getting back to put mine in the rods where gone. so sorry if this breaks the PW spirit, but .
if in need of help just ask, im more than willing to wet my feet!
