Hey fellow fishers, I hate to say this but I am glad of the strong winds we have had over the last few days, I think it gives the reds achance to enter the bay without the pros getting to them, what do you all think.

I have been reading on another website about how it has been tuted that we let the snapper spawn in peace and have a no take period. Sounded interesting.
Maybe the wind is the wau of mother nature looking after hew family!

No take period sounds ok, but in all honesty can you/we ever see that happening, do you think the pros will like it, no way, but If we fishos have a size limit that we release in the no take period then it might work,

I follow in the great Des (dekka's) footsteps and have given myslef a slot limit. 45cm-60cm.
I think a slot limit is better as it allows the big reds and I mean much bigger reds to bread as they produce many more eggs than the smaller ones.

I would love to have the problem of throwing a fish over 60cm back :D
Also, I did see a lone sole out fishing off olivers hill on saturday lunchtime  . Now thats what i call keen, because the bay looked like a washing machine with a wave height of about 1.5 metres.
cheers

How does it make me feel, ok ,
Feels great knowing back then we could get a decent fish or 20 form the local piers, rocks and breakwalls, not like now, you have to put in the hard yakka and hours just to get something around 1-3kgs, remember back then when you guys were still in dipers, we used to venture to kerferd rd, seaford, and mornington piers when the wind was howelling head strong, waves smashing over the piers, they would be packed with dedicated snapper anglers, and the fish going crazey, you all here about the sessions when its bedlem, well i have to say I have seen it a few times, best nights/day would have to be on the mornington pier, waves smashing over the pier, 12 anglers fishing at the end, for a total of 37 snapper, smallest 9 pound largest 18, i was there but unfortunalty I was the only one not to get a fish on that occassion,
ahh memeories

Is it that there are more sharks about when its windy or is less boats to foul your line?

strong winds needed to float baits out, 30yrs+ fishing rosebud, we have only been cut off once by boats, most boats use the tootgarook and drommana ramps so they tend not to come into the waters we fish and if they do the always seem to stay well away from shore, the water is crystal clear there, you can see the bottom for approx 1k off shore, most boats fish there during the day for whiting, the toothies are there feeding on the very large population of rays and smaller fish that inhabit these waters, strong northerly winds need at Altona, and i mean strong 30knots +. not many boats venture out in those conditions,
