do use braid....or fireline,.... is there any speacial nots you use?
Uni knot for terminal tackle -> leader; for braid to mono leader use double uni knot. Also, if your mono leader is much heavier than your braid, consider doubling the braid before tying the knot. It gives better strength / grip to the knot, just be careful when tightening it up that all the ends snug down evenly.

I use Finns braid for Westernport only.
I also use the uni-knot for terminal tackle, but twist it through the loop 8-10 times where I would only use 4-5 for mono. It's a lot easier to form the knot away from the swivel etc and then slide it down onto the swivel with plenty of saliva.

I only use fireline and run 30lb on my big rod and 6kg on the rest. (14 lb) I have top shoted my big rod and have a total of 390yds on but only 150 is fireline.

Only use braid for WP rigs and they are not topped.
I spool a a small amount of mono on first but the rest is braid.
