Not sure if this has been raised,
my most memerable fish fighting experience happend back in 2003 on the tankerton jetty westernport,
1am, hooked in very large toothie, had to cut wire on cyclone fence seperating falling section of peir from safe section to pass rod through, had to do that 3 times during the fight, shark also went around post markers but lucky for us it came back the same way, had shark in eye sight from pier about 20ft out just below surface, body length estimated to be approx 12ft,
5:30am, shark swam along pier, had to pass rod through fence again, only to have it swim under the peir and result was cut-off,
4.5hrs of hard yakka on 15kg only yo lose the battle.
it was fun though.
would like to here of some other tussles with the swimming variety
