ok so im new to the fish finding gizmo thingy.... when you sound aroun and find what look like fish [fish id on] how do you keep them under the boat? berley or just put baits in
when u guys are fishing do u turn it of or keep watching whats swimming by

Rule No 1. turn Fish Id. and alarm - OFF.
Use your menu to set sensitivity to 60 - 70 and see if you can use the Zoom to only look at the bottom + 2meters. you dont need to see the water surface from underneath.
If you set it up properly it will show fish as "arches"
Main thing to remember is that these things are Depth sounders 1st, maybe fish finders 2nd.

so should "arches" show up on all settings or only on zoom

Chris, they wont always show up as arches. Depends on speed of boat, density/number in school, whether fish are swimming or feeding and sounder settings, ie: sensitivity/gain.

I have never had arches..... but I have never caught a big snapper either.... mmm I thinK I see the problem.. I clearly need a new sounder.
