Went out WPB in Lynda,s boat last Sunday and whilst fishing I noticed that there was alot of water insde the boat and it was coming in pretty fast so we got the bilge pump going , up with the anchore and got the rods in the boat and headed for land, the boat was all over the place and getting harder to control so we were very glad to see the ramp.
When we retrieved the boat and took the bungs out we were really shocked at the amount of water we had taken on.
Lynda got the boat checked out and they found that there was a dam big hole up near the front that had been caused by a small sinker breaking down the aluminuim over time till it had caused a hole, and the seal around the bung was leaking we were told that we were very lucky to have gotten back like we did.
So owners of Aluminium boats please check under your floors and pick up any stray sinkers ect around your boats

Sorry to hear about the hole mate. Is it easily fixed?

For this and many other reasons I bought a polyethylene boat. Fortunately when my Polycraft arrives I won't need to worry about corrosion or osmosis and nothing sticks to polyethelene so it'll clean easily!

Kaz, sounds like you guys were lucky to notice the water when you did.

Glad to see you made it back okay.

The boat is being fixed and should be on the water soon. :D :D
Im so glad I bought a fibreglass boat, although its heavier I think its less worry.
