Look up Smart Aluminium in the phone book they will have what ever you want, or you could use S/Steel tube .

I have thought of a S/S tube on numerouse occassions but have shyed away from it for the simple reason of the weight factor. not cost. will check out Smart alluminum.

My father had a thick bamboo pole for his gaff - he had it for about 50 years of fishing and Sparkesy1 is now the owner of it and still in perfect condition. It is also lightweight.

I to had a bamboo pole, lasted for years, havnt seen them around for years, ever since the fibreglass pole came out.

Have looked at extendable mop handles that extend to 15ft, very sturdy and strong enough,

thanks for all the info and ideas guys/gals

Pool supply shop!
Get a long handle extendable skimmer, and replace head with fixed or flying gaff. Flying can be better (depending on the grade and strength of the skimmer pole).

So nice to see that people in this site remember the little people  and try and help out those less fortunate than themselves.
What about me???? I'm sure that I would only have about 3 ton of alloy tubing lying around the factory somewhere!! And S/S as well.

Once again thanks for the info guys,

Steve, thanks for the offer, its very much appreciated, I am going to go with a aluminum extension pole that extends to 15ft, easier for cartage on roof racks,

yeah I got that Kaz, I can pick up the extention that we use at work for around $60. then I will pick up a large gaff head and take both to work and get the engineers to modify a bit,

thanks for all replies and ideas
