Location: Portland Harbour
How to Get There and MapRef Port of Portland, Far Western Victoria
Cost: Nil

Ramp Lanes: 3, 4 with good drivers
Pontoons/boat spaces: about 12 boats at the jetties.
Nearby speed limits/ special rules: No absolute speed limit within the area, but the ramp is located near the commercial port, which is a restricted area.
Distance to open water: several hundred metres.

Off street parking: about 30 car/trailer spots
Nearby overflow parking: plenty nearby in the waterfront area..
Grey Ghosts: Nil

Toilets facilities; Good public toilets nearby.

BBQ and playground equipment on site: Several BBQs and plentiful playground equipment nearby.

Nearest Service Stations: Several, including an early opening Shell within about 5 minutes drive.

Bait and Tackle: 2 stores, Compleat Angler and Portland Bait and Tackle within 5 minutes walk on Bentinck Street.

Boat wash down: good washdown bay at the ramp
Fish cleaning tables: 4 fish cleaning benches at the ramp. ?
Nearest carwash: unknown
Nearest corner store/milk bar/ food place; Wide range of eats on Bentinck Street and surrounding area of the town.

Known problems: None at the ramp or nearby, however it is possible to get lost finding the ramp. Approaching the town from Melbourne, just past the Shell servo on the right is a turnoff for the “Port”. DO NOT TAKE this turn. Turn left at the hospital turnoff, then right at the beachfront, then left down the ramp opposite the Richmond Henty Hotel.

Advantages: A good protected ramp usable in all weathers. There are others nearby at Narrawong, Yambuk and Cape Bridgewater but this is a true all-weather ramp at all states of the tide and weather. The town of Portland caters well to the visiting fisho and 2 major tackle shops are visible from the ramp.
As of the day of writing, 25th May 2007, Bluefin tuna and very big Mulloway are being caught.
