Has anyone had a look at the colour under water camera's about, I was at the local tackle store over weekend and the blokes in there said they are great, really crisp picture, easy to control in current in depths up to 20mts? Are they gonna help me catch fish or just be a fun distraction? (i do a bit of diving as well and i reckon they would be good for this to check out bottom before jumping over board?)

One of my mates has one, its great to see whats down there.

We use it in corner inlet when tide stops, the amount of new bottom we have discovered is mind blowing to say the least.

Burv, there are a few options you can look at. I currently work for Aust Post and for my self and have been installing security cameras for around 15 years for them. I have looked at buying the swan type from ebay but I have found them to be returns or over run stock so buyer beware. At the moment I am building my own, picked up a camera from a security camera wholesaler for $165, it comes with 20m cable and some very bright leds around the lens. The camera also switches from colour to black and white as the light drops. I have also got a small 5" colour lcd screen to view it on. The last thing I have picked up over the years is 3 12v digital video recorders. They where to be put into taxi's but the wholesaler had a few too many and I was able to pick them up cheap, just add a hard drive and your in business. With a bit of luck now my youngs daughter is getting a bit older (2) may be I can get the time to finish putting it together and give it a try. Hopefully read for August - September time. If your interested Eye Spy in brighton has the swan type cameras for around $150 no monitor.
