Who here has boat insurance and where did you go and why.

After all these years with Club Marine they want me to get an inspection done at my expense of my boat cos it's over 20 years old. They can stick it and I'm on the look out for a new insurance company.

David, I used to be with NRMA till RACV took over and as usual they upped the rates so changed to GIO, got a discount on the car and house insurance as well. They seem ok but hopfully I will never have to find out what they are like if I have to make a claim.

The insurance companys we aproached to cover our boat were gobsmacked be fact we want to insure a boat that was built in 1918.

Its a couta boat that we have restored and put a decent cabin on, we are also required to have her serveyed before they will even consider cover.

just make sure either your car or boat insurance policy covers the boat whilst its being towed.

Thanks Boys, I put in an email to Club Marine about my dissatisfaction and also they way they spoke to me in their letter. Now they are offering me a 10% discount and instead of getting the boat surveyed, all I need to do is send in some pics of my rig. THey shoudl have said that in the first place. Now a m8 of mine works at GIO and it appears at this stage that GIO can do a cheaper quote for me.
