Hello people,
This is my first post on what looks like a great site.
I have recently upgraded to a very nice 2006 540 Freedom sport with a 115 4s Merc on an Easytow trailer. With a young family (2 boys 8 & 6 and a girl 4) this boat really fits our needs. We all like a fish and spend Christmas at Mallacoota and other times spent towing the biscuit and skiers.
My only problem is rod storage when we go out on PPB. I have a bimini, the type that is separate to the screen, and the boat only just clears the gararge door so a fixed rocket launcher wouldn't work.
Does anybody have any ideas or have any of you a similar problem.

Thanks Marty

welcome aboard mate you will find these scallywags on this site very helpful and friendly

you may want to go and talk to someone in the metal fabrication industry... Maybe you might wanna have a chat with this guy The all round nice guy and elly chaser steve-g (http://piscatorialworshippers.com.au/forums/member.php?find=lastposter&t=2567) as i am sure he will be able to come up with a good solution for a rocket luancher

you might want to think about having a rocket luancher that is able to collapse down like your bimini canopy

cheers

Thanks OZ
It's hard to know which way to go as my current bimini doesn't lend itself to attatching rod holders and sometimes it's removed.

Thanks Marty

you dont necessarily have to attach ya rocket luancher to the bimini either... if you can collapse ya bimini towards the bow and the luancher may be able to lay to the stern of the boat...

cheers

hi Marty, i have a 5.4 haines signature half cabin with bimini and clears. It clears my carport by about 2 inches. Rods lying on the floor are so annoying.

I've even thought of maybe some sort of holder out the back on the pod.

We do make a collapsible launcher, if thats wot ur after.
It replaces the rear bar on the bimini and folds backwards into the boat.

At Jv you can purchase side mount rod holders in banks of 3 put one either side close to the front of the cabin and it wont interfear with your fishing

I have a canopy that I have to fold down and a rocket launcher that I have to unscrew and lay down towards the stern supported by a length of timber cut to a 'V'. That's just to get the tonneau on. Have to do it in reverse to get on the water. It is painful.......but once you're on the water, you realise its worth it.

Rods stay on the floor or in the side pockets until I'm ready to launch. I then place the rods I want to use on the trip in the launcher. Plenty of room under the bridge at Carrum to get them through unharmed.

My boat has about 6 ports around the gunwhale to insert the rack mentioned by Alan. I have 2 of them - one for port and another for starboard. They lean slightly to the stern, hence the specific side placement. They are horizontal to the water and perfect for snapper rigs.

I also have 2 x 2 off the bait board at the back. That gives me room for 10 rods in holders, hopefully no tangles.
