Well, sometimes it pays to ask the right people the questions that SHOULD have been asked b4 one pays their money for unseen goods.
As stated in the first post I have bought off E-bay a "1986 Caribbean Baron 193. 6meter halfcab"

After driving to Woolongong and back to pick the boat up I proudly posted it in here (and other places).

Then I had a brainwave and sent Caribbean Boats an email asking for any info on the model.
The reply informed me that Caribbean LAST produced Barons in the late '70s, also that Barons were only 18'2" o/a NOT 19'3'.If I sent them the plate number they would find any details still on file about my boat. They sent me a pic of the orig passout docket complete with buyers name and the date it left the factory(see pic)

It now seems like I have purchased a 1976 model boat so the hull is 31years old not 21. Luckily for me the hull is sound as is the floor and transom even thou they're all full of holes.
Anyway the plan now is to add a pod to the rear (then it will be 6meters) and a bowspit to the front, then maybe some not too radical modifications to the cabin to improve the fishabillity of the rig.
So until next time, time for somemore sanding.

At least the guys at carabean were good enough to reply to you with the info. I tried a similar thing with Stejcraft here in Vic. Twice I emailed with a question about my boat which is around 6 years old, twice I was ignored.

As a newbie to both boating and fishing in PPB, Caribbeans respose speaks volumes. After all, few of us can afford a new first boat and irrelevant of purchase price our first boat is priceless... We all want to know as much about our baby as if it was brand new. If the first time buyer can't sell his boat he's not going to be buying another.

So basically Stejcraft won't be on my list for up-grade.

As for the variance in dimensions, I bet it was a bloke that sold it to you. The wife claims blokes always exagerate measurements:cool:

Unfortunatly, When I rang him he was shocked, because he bought an 86 Baron 19'3" (6meters) as well. He only onsold the info that he had.
