You could try the Saigon market in footscray, coming form the city ( dynon rd ) it is just past the Footscray market on your right, not sure of the street name, I have found it to have all the bait I need and its fresh.

lol, all the way in the mountains, forget making the trip there, it's way to far to go just to get bait for a fishing trip, haha. Ended up making the trip up to Footscray today, after having difficulty finding the Saigon shopping centre with a bit of help from the locals who made it more difficult to find I was able to find it, I could not move inside at all. I found 2 stores with one store that sold Yellowtail Mackrel and Bonito so I got some of that to give a shot, not exactly what I was looking for but I can tell it is very fresh as some fish were still alive jumping up and down. Hopefully a winner, there are lots of other fish shops in footscray in general as well, does anyone know anything of them or thinks they can make reaso***ly good baits. Was shocked to find they didn't have any Silver Whiting, luckily had some at home. Making the trip out tomorrow and with some luck hopefully i can pull out a snapper or two. Just like to thank Dave for the advice and everyone who has contributed, don't be scared to continue i'd rather know as many places as possible. Cheers

Edit: Does anyone know any other good bait that good be used for snapper or pinkies in particular? I hope that it's not too early in the season to go for snappers because last time I made the trip for pinkies which was only 2 weeks ago exact from now with an hour and half fishing I only ended up with the one legal 28cm pinky. Maybe it's better for pinkies in the northern half of the bay than snapper in the northern half of the bay. Wanted to make the trip to the southern half, Rye, Sorrento and try there but just don't have the time.
