Have just stripped a bit of line from my ABU 6500's on one of them I had green 6kg trilene, whist stripping back line I saw clear line on it, dont remember having clear line as I used green.

After a couple of hundred meters I noticed the clear line was infact the green that had faded, have you guys noticed the fading of line even if you havnt used it for at least 12 month, the reels are kept in doors in a wardrobe.

the line I used on Sunday was old line found in the garage. it was 10ln abd could take the weight of the Bream. Whilst it iwas a decent fish it wasnt 10lb!

it was also snapping when i tested knots, i think it had aged in the garage.

Ive noticed when I make rigs on line Ive not used for a year or so that it breaks when testing the knots, so I always use new line for all rigs.

Please correct me any as I would like to know for sure, but I have been told by a few people that line (mono) is not completely uv stable. With that I have also been told that the more colour that is in the line ie. brown instead of clear the better uv stable the line is. How does this sound to every body else.

I've noticed that braided line also looses colour too!

I usually respool in September regardless of how much I have used each reel, I only use Platypus mono, the red one, no particular reason other than the price is right & it hasnt let me down.

Yep, noticed that too...
doesn't seem to affect it though.

Ive found that the grey braid looses its colour faster than the yellow braid and also the end frays more once the colour gets lighter, but still seems to do the job.
