Went down to the altona ramp today only because I have not been out for about 4 weeks just to see how deep it is to get out of the safe harbour. It is not looking good. But to my surprise Hobbs Bay City Council in their wisdom have installed a new ticket machine and guess what it takes credit cards. Got to love them dont you. See pic.

$14 to park, maybe $10,000/$20,000 ticket machine and no exit to the harbour, you get more from a poker machine, Brumby isnt the mayor of Hobsons Bay is he?
Perhaps we could get the Queen of the Netherlands to swing by.

What about parking ticket at St Kilda Pier ??? How much they cost per hr ???
Was thinking of going there for a flick...but then not sure the cost of the parking ended up going to Brighton Pier.

Why do I not live in Melbourne , oh thats right I don't have to deal with things like this lol.

Can just see it now all set for a day on the bay , the weather is great you've been told the fish are on the chew , in goes the plastic to pay the ticket and hang on , where's my card . Damn the machine has eaten my card , jeez great my days just gone down the toilet and the hassles start. Do I go fishing and leave the card or do I try and contact the moron to come get it out when he doesn't want to or isn't the one with the keys. Technology what a wonderful thing.

Flash looking machine though I do wonder how long it will last before the vandals take a crack at it.

Cheers

I came back into the safe harbour a couple of weeks ago and it was the bottom half of the tide. I scrapped the bottom the whole way through. it was silted up bad.

Who would you complain to?

An other example of the goverment over taxing us Why do we get forced to pay $14 for a 24hr ticket when you only need a 6 or 12hr ticket. There would be hell to pay if ths princable was imposed on cars at parking meters and yet we put up with this why??????

I think the issue is paying 14 only to find the entrance silted up! so you pay launch and recover for no purpose!

I have seen bad a few times, but its really bad at the moment.

I wonder how you guys woud go if you launched and did not pay,

If you launched and found that you could not get out so you had to come straight back in due to the poor facilities and you returned to get your car/trailor and found a parking infringment on your windscreen, you decide to challenge it, what would the outcome be.

unfortunetly the counter issue of no dredgeing occuring doesnt counter the infringement of the bi-law.

so in this case I dont belive two wrongs would make a right!

Grant you should ring the council and make them aware of the silting up problem and ask them for a refund You can only try, they earn a bloody fortune from thier two ticket machines So its about time they fixed the problem as it was starting to silt up back in early November

The more complaints they get might get the ball rolling

Thats true Grant, but as a consumer dont you have a right to get what you pay for, not being able to venture out past the ramp due to thier miss-managent surely e***les you to get a refund and one way or the other.

The channel as marked for entry to the Altona Safe Harbour is silting up and unusable at certain times in the the avergae tidal range.

Hobsons bay council have had me on hold for 45 mins twice now and I have never spoken to a single responsible person.

So I am starting a petition, if you woudl like this excellent facilty to continue being usuable please sign the online petition.
