I was just wondering if anyone uses downriggers while fishing especially in places like westernport. Any info would be much appreciated as the boat show is only a week and a bit away so who knows.

Geoff.

G'day,
I have two downriggers on the back of my boat.
I just gave a smaller one I had to my mate aswell.

I have used them for snapper and gummy's and they work well when the waters really running hard, I preffer to use sinkers if I can get away with it though.

they really come into their own when used for trolling, I use them when slow trolling live squid and fish around for kingfish, jewies and other predatory fish. They are good for trout too.
I'm also planning on trolling some big hardbody's around in snapper season to see if I can get a few snapper.

they are a good investment as they can open your fishing options right up.
