View Full Version : Where do I find 2nd hand GPS?
Apart from this forum, where else can I find a second-hand GPS for sale? Ebay never seems to have much in the way of second-hand stuff. Are there any other sites, magazines etc. that might be worth checking out?
I just need a really basic grey-scale unit and I don't want to pay hundreds for it.

greysonline.com.au is another good one.

Jump on the net and look up http://www.gpsoz.com.au/ not bad prices for very desent units. Do your homework on different gps's as different gps may be able to interface with fish finders etc like the magellan gps and hummingbird matrix fish finder. They work very well together. Another one to try is johnny appleseed, of whitworths. Whitworths have new unit and Tacklemania also has a sale at the moment. If your going to the boat show check out the boat books stand, they have marine mapping software for a laptop.

If you manage to track down a second hand unit at a good price be sure to check the date on the card inside. I've seen a couple around on boats that are 2002 or 2003 editions and there have been a few changes since then.
If the card is getting on, factor in somewhere around $150 or more for a card update.
Neil, I would check prices on new cards first as I know that the Navionics cards are more around $350.00. They are used in the magellan units, also called blue maps.
