Hey all,
I am thinking about spooling the following reels with braid,
ABU 6500
ABU 700
I would like your opinions on it, if its a good idea or not, I have a couple of concerns, one being casting ability, the other being birdnesting and the braid buring your thumb as you slow it down.

Dave ,
If you set the reel up properly you should not need to go anywhere near the spool during the cast until it is about to hit the water.
If you intend to spool up the reels make sure that you do it as tight as possible.

Thanks, appreciated.

Dave ,
What brand of braid do you plan on using with the reels , I normally only use Fireline in sizes up to 20 pound with 14 being the prefered size for those reels.
I also run a fairy long shock leader to avaoid the braid cutting down into itself at the begining of the cast.

I have yet to decide on what brand, also will it effect casting distances, at the moment I only use braid on my shimano 1500 baitrunner which I use with plastics,
Placing it on overheads was just something i thought of, just wanted a few opinions.
thanks

I have spooled one of my overheads with spider wire and in the beginning had problems with birdnesting ect but since re spooling it tighter I have not had a single problem with it so Im gonna load my trolling reel with braid as well.

Hi Dave I fish all my overheads with braid at the moment I am trialling fusion dyneema very supple and slow sinking which i find good on my carbon rods for plastics as it is very sensitive
Lines to start any braid
Best braid Fins or firewire
though to be honest they are much of the same whether you pay $60 or $20
