Hi guys,
Thought it'd be a good idea to start a new thread where we share tackle stores and places where you may have picked up a bargain or there may be a special on anything to do with fishing.
For example, today I went to K-Mart at Northlands and picked up a pack of 100 size 6/0 Jarvis Walker Suicide Hooks for $10.40. They're currently having a 20% sale on all tackle and 25% sale on clearance rods/reel combos including snapper, whiting, surf and bream rods. I was also looking for a big landing net for big snapper and found one there for $72 bucks on special but i am still trying to figure out whether I should get a gaff instead and whether that was expensive and is worth looking elsewhere.
Cheers

Ray's outdoor clearance centre, the big one in Dandenong, always has cheap stuff.
Passed through there a few weeks ago and a landing net, retailing at 29.95 was mine for 14.03, less another 10% because I was nice to the serving lady and flopped out my Rays VIP card.
Picked up a variety of lures, some swivels in assorted sizes and general stuff for change out of another tenner.
Well worth 5 minutes if you are driving past.

Mate,
I would be carefull with the jarvis walker hooks, they aren't the best quality and can bend on good fish.
also I would recomend a net over a gaff

I will keep that in mind when I go fishing next and make sure I replace them each time. Do you know if nickle hooks are any good? I think I will buy a net, i'll have a look around for one, I need to get something fairly big though so it could fit a solid 15-20 pound fish in.

Crannie tackle have the Shimano baitrunners at a good price.
Start at $145 for the 3500, some combos still there for $30 odd bucks extra
If you want some good rods and reels try the following web site. The runs fishing trips out of Hastings and does not mind you picking the gear up.
