This is a question for those that dont fish over the winter due to other (warmer) commitmments...
I lanox my gear prior to stowing and give them a good wipe down then i am ready to go!
Tackle boxs get a clean out...
then I am off....
what do you guys do?

I remove the first 20 metres of line from all reels. I just don't trust the "UV-stabilised" thing and sitting in the Sun for a few months must affect the line. I also try to end-for-end the heavy lines and change the line entirely after 3 seasons.
Reels get a quick oil change and grease during those cool evenings when it's blowing 40 mongrels from the Southwest, ready for the good weather.
Rods are closely inspected and taken to a tackle shop or tame rod builder for attention if there is any sign of wraping problems or epoxy failure.
And boat-wise? The list is too long to go through, but I start with safety gear and move on from there.

Boat Gets a service... or at least an oil change all the grease nipples get a fill...
bearing buddies get a grease....

When I get back from Queensland I will be stripping all line from all reels and replacing with new. Checking all reels and guides on rods, All other tackle well stocked, will make new shark traces. Sharpen hooks and sharking knives.

First week of august all the reels with mono get pulled apart and cleaned and checked. New line onto them ,the reels with braid i tend to strip the line and reuse it but put what was on the inner of the reel onto the outside. rods get washed and sent of for repair if reqiuired.
Any unused hooks and leaders get retied with fresh knots.
Sinkers and terminal tackle get checked and sorted out again
Old bait gets checked into the garden mulcher and frozen as burley.
Work on the theroy that all will be in tip top nick come mid september.
Boat/trailer get the same treatment,
Rick

Just completed stripping and cleaning all reels and re-spooling ready for a hard season on the reds, toothies, jewies and whiting, with the odd flathead and bream session mixed in somewhere.

Hate this time of year I have stripped two reels down to replace drag washers etc have thrown two away one was a solid Brass Omoto game reel that was slipping at about 10k pulled it apart drags shot but to my horror not brass cogs as the blurb says, but nylon what a lot of crap
the other an old Okuma longbow but a 35k white pointer destroyed its always a good reminder don't by rubbish reels or don't catch large fish
