Reminder to check your life jackets prior to stowing for the season

A number of life jackets fail, due to lack of maintenance. We check out flares, our torch our buckets even, but we rarely check out life jackets. Some simple checks can esnure a much higher chance of it functioning as it should when you need it most.
• Life jackets need to be adjusted.
o

Esnure it is correctly fitted and a firm fit.
o A loose jacket will alow you to slide throw it in the water

• Rust and Pitting of the Co2
o

This is evident by discolouration of thebottle
o Pitting on the cansister (resultant form the salt air)

• Lifejackets are sometimes fired and repacked without people knowing
• Carry at least one re-arming kit.
• Check Expiry Dates of canisters
If you are not confident doing this yourself, contact your supplier and they will direct you to a sutiable company.
