Police would like to advise that section 15(2) of the Marine Act 1988 is now in effect in some flood prone areas and rivers across Victoria.

The act provides that from 5pm Monday 6 September till 5pm Thursday 9 September swimming and the operation of vessels (including anchoring, mooring or allowing a vessel to lie) excluding those vessels involved in search and rescue operations is prohibited on the following waters:
a. All the waters of the Goulburn River from the Goulburn River Weir to the junction of the Murray River;
b. All the waters of the Gowangardie

The search is on for a man who disappeared in Daveys Bay, Mount Eliza this morning.
The search is on for a man who disappeared in Daveys Bay, Mount Eliza this morning.

The man was with two friends in the bay about 3am when the boat they were in started taking on water and capsized.

The man's friends managed to swim to shore to raise the alarm.

Search and Rescue, Water Police and the Airwing are now searching for the man, aged in his 30s.
